Bit on the pricey side but would recommend. It’s right in the heart of the old city by the Fairmont hotel and serves some great cocktails and small menu of food. The portions are decent sized and can be shared. The cheese plate was great but the mushroom ravioli was ok - it was bland and the ravioli themselves were filled with ricotta type cheese. Service was great

After many trips to Quebec city this was my first time stopping at Alphonse and it did not disappoint! I enjoyed a fabulous salad with halloumi and melon, topped with a bright and flavorful orange vinaigrette — every dish was clearly chef-inspired. From my seat, I could see the back kitchen and prep station, and it was impressive how meticulous and organized everything was.

I had their french onion soup one day and a few paper plane cocktails, simply delicious, and the next I went back and had their shrimp rolls, also delicious. I highly recommend. (There's only one roll in the photo because I was eating the other )

Walked in at 12:30pm on a Thursday and was immediately seated. Staff were pleasant and attentive. Salad, french onion soup, salmon tartare with frites and crème brûlée were all delicious. No complaints. Would definitely return and recommend.

Soo good it’s already gone. Crème brûlée tastes like pumpkin pie, it is so good. The best I’ve ever had, no distinctive eggy taste which I personally hate. Very sweet and light. Great music. I got the asparagus Parmesan soup for the day which was DELICIOUS! I was hesitant as yuck? Asparagus? But it was creamy and delightful. I also got a chef special, brazed chicken with a gravy cream and somehow the cheesiest mashed potatoes you’ve ever had. Amazing.

During our visit to Quebec City for the Winter Carnival in February 2026, my fiancée and I stumbled upon a remarkable hidden gem, Alphonse Cuisine & Cocktails. After crossing the expansive Saint Lawrence River by ferry and feeling quite hungry, we sought a new dining experience instead of our usual spot. As we wandered through the charming streets of lower Quebec City, we were drawn to this quaint bistro, distinguished by its pristine glass window and inviting atmosphere, conveniently located near the ferry docks on Rue des Jardins, Quebec. Upon entering, we were warmly welcomed by Marguerite, our server, who introduced us to the elegantly designed space that exuded a modern yet cozy ambiance. With only one other couple present, we settled into comfortable leather chairs, where Marguerite presented us with the menu, offering detailed descriptions of each dish. We opted for the sweet potato soup as an appetizer, which was light and flavorful, followed by an impeccably cooked 8-ounce flank steak served with homemade peppercorn sauce, matchstick fries, and a fresh mixed green salad. For dessert, Marguerite recommended the exquisite black cherry and spice crème brûlée, which exceeded our expectations with its delightful flavours. The entire dining experience, from the attentive service of Marguerite to the meticulous preparation of each dish, was exceptional, showcasing the undeniable talent of the chef. We wholeheartedly recommend Alphonse Cuisine & Cocktails to anyone seeking a memorable culinary experience.

Very good! Not a single disappointment, very nice, the creme brule is very interesting with a bit of peach fruit inside. Also, the personal is warm and kind which gives extra points. I will try more of the menu

Right in the heart of Old Quebec and just steps away from the famous umbrella street, Alphonse offers a stylish, cozy spot for dinner or drinks. The restaurant is beautifully set in a historic old bank building, with a warm interior and a lively vibe. Service was friendly and attentive. The food was decent — nothing particularly memorable, but everything was well-cooked and nicely presented. Great cocktails and lovely ambiance make it a pleasant stop if you’re exploring the Old Town. Ideal for a relaxed meal with a nice view and atmosphere, especially if you're in the area for photos under the umbrellas!

Nestled in the heart of Québec’s old city at 19 Rue des Jardins, Alphonse Cuisine & Cocktails is a refined culinary gem that masterfully blends classic French-inspired dishes with an innovative cocktail program. Renowned for its inviting ambiance and meticulous kitchen craft, this restaurant offers an array of thoughtfully prepared plates that celebrate local flavors with a sophisticated touch.

The menu shines with highlights like the velvety Crème Brûlée Maison—praised for its delicate sweetness and lack of overpowering egginess—and the subtly comforting French Onion Soup that warms from the first spoonful. The Mushroom Ravioli, filled with ricotta, received mixed reviews; while the pasta is tender, some diners found the overall flavor a bit understated. However, the variety continues to impress with indulgent choices such as the Melted Brie, Burrata, and the vibrant Nicoise Salad, which offers a fresh and balanced medley of ingredients that echo the chef's dedication to vibrant flavors.

Not to be overlooked, the tasting boards and the Plateau de Fromages provide superb options for sharing, curated to complement the venue’s well-crafted cocktails. Signature drinks like the Le Compte Voyage Et Le Parrain offer complex profiles, pairing beautifully with savory selections such as the tender duck dishes or the seasonal Oyster Mushrooms and Asparagus.

Customer feedback highlights the restaurant’s consistent service and atmosphere—where attentive staff and well-organized kitchen operations elevate the dining experience. Dishes such as the creamy asparagus Parmesan soup and the chef’s special braised chicken showcase rich textures and bold flavors, enhanced by perfectly prepared sides like cheesy mashed potatoes. The chocolate desserts, including the Chocolate Fondant Au Chocolat and Chocolate-Pewcan Dessert, round out the meal with decadent but refined sweetness.

Overall, Alphonse Cuisine & Cocktails stands out as a destination that balances elegance and comfort. It is an excellent spot for those seeking perfectly balanced flavors, expertly crafted cocktails, and a convivial atmosphere right in the vibrant core of Québec City. While slightly on the pricier side, the quality and dedication found in every dish make it a memorable culinary experience worth revisiting.
